Tom is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, in 1977 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1980. During law school, he served as Editor in Chief of the Nebraska Law Review. Prior to law school, Tom completed a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in the Republic of Vietnam and was awarded Vietnam Campaign and Vietnam Service medals in 1972. From 1974-1977, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Tom joined a Lincoln law firm in 1980 and became a partner in 1984. He left that firm in 1986 to join Norden Laboratories, an animal health subsidiary of SmithKline Beckman, as Legal Counsel. Following a merger of SmithKline Beckman and Beecham Laboratories, he became Director of Acquisitions and Licensing for the newly merged Animal Health Division. In 1991, Tom was recruited by Schering-Plough to create a worldwide business development function for its Animal Health Division and managed the division’s European operations as General Manager and then as Vice President, Europe.
In 1997, Tom returned to Lincoln and joined a local law firm; and in September of 2000, joined Wolfe Snowden as a partner.
